L’Estartit, has been a protected area of urban speculation, conserving multidud green areas, wet and virgin beach without any construction. Of course there are apartments on the beach, but you can walk along the beach and the coastal dunes without finding any buildings and always observing the natural landscape of the “Medas Islands”.
Estartit was initially a fishing village, there is the “beach of Molinet”, it is a rocky beach but with very crystalline waters, you have to go down on foot. Continuing towards the south, we find the port with the fishing boats, excursions to the Median Islands, with its glass bottom, the many diving schools that are in Estartit and the rent boats and sailboats. A little further down is the Nautical Club for sporting facilities.
Then begins the fine sand beach of L’Estartit in town center. It is a very wide beach where you can find accommodation in the first line. In this area are the Bars, Restaurants and shops. The beach is protected by a jetty and the waters are calm and very shallow.
A little further away, 2.5 km from the beach, always on the mountain of L’Estartit, located right next to the protected area of “Las Dunas” in the Urbanization “Torre Vella” you can find very quiet accommodation, next to the pines in some terraced houses. ideal for the rest of the family, even in autumn and winter. In this area you can make excursions up the mountain to the Castle, L’Escala, by marked routes on foot or by bicycle.
A kilometer and a half from the center, following the beach, is the Urbanization “Els Griells” in which there are several supermarkets, restaurants and shops of newspapers and beach equipment, but without the urban agglomeration or bars or nightclubs. Much quieter than in the center. . There you can find accommodation on the first line with fabulous views and tranquility. Also a webcam overlooking the beach.
Walking in a southerly direction, towards Pals, we find the Pletera, a protected wetland area and the mouth of the Ter River. In this area there is no construction and it is a totally natural space.

We continue to the south crossing the Ter River and find the Urbanization “Mas Pinell”, which is still within the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí. It is a very quiet place, with completely new houses in front of the beach and is a great Camping, “El Delfin Verde”. To access by car, you have to drive to Torroella de Montgrí, go over the bridge, go to Pals and 2 kms from Torroella de Montgrí, just at the curve where there is the Empordà Golf Club, turn left towards the Urbanization Mas Pinell and Mas Pinell Beach. Sometimes you can access the supermarket of the campsite, but not always, but you have to take the car and drive about 4 km to the supermarket. The rest are apartments and houses on the first and second line of the beach.
If we continue walking towards the south, we will pass a small stream, “Rec de Moli” and we will arrive at the Playa de Pals which is already deeper than that of Estartit. From there, we have to continue along the rocks until we reach the nudist beach of Pals and here we finish the route from L’Estartit, since you can not access the Cap de Begur by the beach because it is a Rocky area. A good walk, … If you can not get back on foot because you are so tired, you can always take a taxi in Pals.
